Požega cuisine is a mixture of historical and cultural influences from Slavonia and Baranja, as well as customs brought with them by immigrants from other parts of Croatia. The menu includes dishes reminiscent of the old Austro-Hungarian Empire, but also of the fact that the city is located at the crossroads of Central and Southeastern Europe, with pronounced Hungarian, Slavic, Germanic and even Oriental influences.

The local cuisine will certainly be accompanied by wine, since Požega is surrounded by famous vineyards, especially those of Kutjevo. However, it is definitely worth visiting the numerous distilleries, because Požega, although in a wine-growing region, is also increasingly popular for its numerous quality distillates.
